In the first overtime on 4th and 3, needing a TD to keep their national title hope alive, Ohio State QB Craig Kreznel threw to WR Chris Gamble in the end zone. The ball hit Gamble and fell incomplete. The line judge waved the signal for "Incomplete Pass" and the celebration begun. But a late flag from backjudge Terry Porter gave Ohio State a first down on the Miami two yard line, and three plays later they were in the end zone. Ohio State went on to win the National Championship in the next overtime, in one of the most thrilling games in NCAA history.
